It all begins with an idea.

Catering by Andrew has been synonymous with exceptional kosher cuisine and service in New England for over four decades. The journey began with Andrew Wiener, who grew up immersed in the world of fine kosher cuisine at Café Shalom, Boston’s first kosher dairy restaurant, founded by his father, Marvin Wiener, in 1977. Inspired by his family's commitment to quality and hospitality, Andrew pursued a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University and honed his craft at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, training under world-class chefs and event planners.

In 1988, Andrew returned to Boston and established Catering by Andrew (CBA), revolutionizing kosher catering and food service in New England. What started in the backrooms of Café Shalom quickly evolved into Boston’s premier kosher food service company, earning relationships with the city's finest venues, including the Four Seasons Hotel, the Mandarin Oriental, the Fairmont Copley Plaza, and the Royal Sonesta.

In May 2024, Catering by Andrew joined the Gourmet Caterers family, New England’s leader in dining hospitality. Known for its talented chefs, impeccable service, and for producing thousands of unforgettable corporate events, weddings, galas, and celebrations, this exciting partnership expands CBA’s access to premier venues. This includes Boston Symphony Hall, Tanglewood, the JFK Presidential Library, and more while maintaining its identity as a separate kosher business unit under the strict supervision of KVH Kosher.
